Former Tire Building To Become New Fire Department Maintenance Facility

The Amarillo City Council has voted to buy the former A to Z Tire building to house a maintenance department for city fire trucks.
The future maintenance building is located at Southwest 3rd Avenue and Adams street.
Amarillo Fire Chief Jason Mays says at a price of $600, 000, the building will cost a third of what the new construction would be.
The building would be able to hold seven to eight trucks for service maintenance at a time and will eventually house offices and classrooms.
The purchase of the building will be funded by bond money that was approved by voters.
