Astros Fire Executive Who Went On Tirade Towards Reporters

(Houston, TX) — The Houston Astros fired an executive who went on an explicit tirade towards reporters. The team announced the firing of assistant general manager Brandon Taubman saying his conduct does not reflect the values of the organization. They also admitted to being wrong when they defended Taubman several days ago by calling a Sports Illustrated story fabricated. Taubman was accused of using explicit language towards reporters when describing how happy he was the team traded for Roberto Osuna. Osuna was suspended 75 games over domestic violence accusations and one of the reporters was wearing a domestic violence awareness bracelet. The Astros say they did not mean to minimize domestic violence issues.

Report: Cowboys Acquire Bennett From Pats

(Frisco, TX) — Michael Bennett went from suspended by the Patriots for the Monday night game to traded to the Cowboys. Multiple-outlets report New England has shipped the three-time Pro Bowl defensive end to Dallas for a 2021 sixth- or seventh-round draft pick. The Patriots suspended Bennett for conduct detrimental to the team after a disagreement with defensive line coach Bret Bielema in front of other players over lack of playing time. Bennett, who turns 34 next month, has been on the field for 36 percent of the team’s defensive snaps and has two-and-a-half sacks. The ‘Boys are off this week.

Texans Will Host Raiders Sunday

(Houston, TX) — The Texans will host the Raiders on Sunday at NRG Stadium. The Texans will try to bounce back from a 30-23 loss in Indianapolis last week to fall to 4-and-3. Oakland is 3-and-3 after falling to Green Bay.

Vikings Edge Redskins On TNF

(Minneapolis, MN) — Dalvin Cook ran for the game’s only touchdown just before halftime as the Vikings edged the Redskins 19-9 on Thursday Night Football in Minnesota. Cook had 171 total yards as the Vikings won their fourth straight to improve to 6-and-2. Redskins QB Case Keenum was knocked out of the game with a concussion as Washington fell to 1-and-7.

The Greek Freak Ruins Rockets’ Opener

(Houston, TX) — The Greek Freak spoiled the initial Rockets’ pairing of James Harden and Russell Westbrook. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 30 points, 13 boards and 11 assists to lead the Bucks to a 117-111 win over the Rockets in Houston in the NBA opener for both. Westbrook had 24 points, 16 boards and seven assists in his Rockets’ debut. James Harden contributed 19 points, 14 assists and seven boards in defeat. Houston is home tomorrow night against the Pelicans.

Mavericks Face Pelicans Tonight

(New Orleans, LA) — The Mavericks will play their road opener tonight when they face the Pelicans in New Orleans. Luka Doncic scored a game-high 34 points as the Mavericks beat the Wizards 108-100 to tipoff the season Wednesday in Dallas. The Mavs are home Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

(Dallas, TX) — Denis Gurianov  scored both goals for the Stars in a 2-1 triumph over the Ducks in Dallas. Ben Bishop logged 29 saves for Dallas, which has won three in a row after a five-game skid. The Stars are home tomorrow night against the Penguins.
