Friday Sports Update – Astros Take On Rays In ALDS
(Houston, TX) — The Astros will open the best-of-five ALDS this afternoon at Minute Maid Park against the Rays. Tampa Bay beat the A’s 5-1 in the wild card game in Oakland. Justin Verlander will start today and Gerrit Cole tomorrow night for the Astros. The Rays will counter with Tyler Glasnow in the first game and 2018 Cy Young winner Blake Snell in Game Two. The series will shift Monday to St. Petersburg with Zack Greinke going for Houston and former Astro Charlie Morton for the Rays.
Cards Beat Braves In G1 With Four-Run Ninth
(Cumberland, GA) — Marcell Ozuna and Kolten Wong each doubled in two runs in the ninth inning and the Cardinals held on for a 7-6 win over the Braves in their NLDS opener in Atlanta. St. Louis tied it with two in the eighth and then took a 7-3 lead in the ninth. Ronald Acuna Jr. and Freddie Freeman homered in the bottom half to get Atlanta close. Game two is this afternoon.
Dodgers Blank Nationals In NDLS G1
(Los Angeles, CA) — Walker Buehler and three relievers combined on a two-hitter as the Dodgers blanked the Nationals 6-0 in Game One of the NLDS in Los Angeles. He struck out eight over six innings of one-hit ball for the win. Max Muncy laced a two-run single and Gavin Lux and Joc Pederson hit solo homers. Patrick Corbin took the loss. LA hosts Game Two tonight.
Cowboys Prepare For Packers
(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys will face the Packers on Sunday at AT&T Stadium. The Cowboys are expecting right tackle La’el Collins to be in the lineup despite missing practice time with a back issue. Wideout Michael Gallup should play after missing two games with a knee injury. Both teams are 3-and-1 and coming off losses. Texans Hosting Falcons On Sunday
(Houston, TX) — The Texans will meet the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday game at NRG Stadium. Houston will try to bounce back from a 16-10 home loss to the Carolina Panthers. Houston is 2-and-2, while Atlanta is 1-and-3. The Texans could be without wide receiver Kenny Stills, who has a hamstring injury and was a limited participant in yesterday’s practice.
Seahawks Edge Rams On TNF
(Seattle, WA) — Greg Zuerlein missed a 44-yard field goal in the closing seconds as the Seahawks held on to edge the Rams 30-29 in Seattle. Russell Wilson threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers as the Seahawks improved to 4-and-1. Jared Goff threw for 395 yards, a touchdown and an interception for LA, which fell to 3-and-2.
Bruins Dim Stars In NHL Opener
(Dallas, TX) — Brett Ritchie and Danton Heinen scored in the first period to lift the Bruins to a 2-1 victory over the Stars in the NHL opener for both teams in Dallas. Roope Hintz scored the Dallas goal midway through the second period. Ben Bishop stopped 18 of 20 shots in the loss. Dallas failed to score on two power plays.

Mavs Tip Off Preseason Play Tuesday
(Dallas, TX) — The Mavericks will conclude training camp Sunday with an open practice free to the public at American Airlines Center. Dallas will tip off its preseason schedule on Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Tulsa. The Mavs will play Wednesday against the Pistons in Detroit.
Rockets Drop Clippers In Honolulu
(Honolulu, HI) — James Harden piled up 37 points as the Rockets dropped the Clippers 109-96 in a preseason matchup in Honolulu. Clint Capela posted 14 points and 11 rebounds and rookie Chris Clemons provided 15 off the bench. The Rockets will play Tuesday and Thursday in Japan against the defending NBA champion Raptors.
FC Dallas Will Host Sporting KC In Finale
(Frisco, TX) — FC Dallas will host Sporting KC in the regular season finale Sunday at Toyota Stadium. Dallas sits seventh in the West with 45 points. The top seven teams qualify for the MLS playoffs and Dallas would be in with a victory. San Jose is a point behind Dallas with 44, while the Colorado Rapids have 42. Dallas is a point behind sixth-place Portland. Kansas City has been eliminated from playoff contention.

Unbeaten Baylor will play at Kansas State in Big 12 play, TCU will go to Iowa State, North Texas is at Southern Miss, number-12 Texas will play at West Virginia and Texas Tech will host number-25 Oklahoma State. Number-21 Texas A&M has the week off before facing number-one Alabama a week from tomorrow in College Station. West Texas A&M will host Central Washington for homecoming tomorrow afternoon at 5.
