The Amarillo Fire Department is seeing a vivid increase in heat-related calls, and they want to warn you about precautions.

Check it out, a locked up car can reach temperatures of 128 degrees, and that is definitely not healthy for man or beast.

The Department says there are 13-hundred heat-related deaths in the U.S. each year, and all are preventable, along with trips to the hospital.

For the month of July the 9-11 call center has confirmed an increase in heat-related calls

Residents are not the only ones being affected, but firefighters as well.

If a firefighter goes down because of a heat-related illness, that’s one less person to man a truck in the case of an emergency.
