Man Here Illegally Arrested With Cocaine And Guns

Authorities seized 500 grams of cocaine and two firearms during a drug bust last Friday in Potter County, according to a Criminal Complaint filed in Potter County, October 13th.

Luis Montenegro Avitia is facing a charge of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

Potter County and the Randall County Sheriff’s offices along with the Amarillo DEA searched the known residences of Avitia at 4234 Southwest 15th Avenue and 5000 Northside Drive and executed a narcotics search warrant. They found Avitia at the Northside Drive location.

Other property found included two firearms, and he was taken into the Potter county Sheriff’s Office for an interview, during which Avitia produced a concealed baggie of cocaine, pouring it into a bottle of water that was provided to him. Authorities quickly removed the bottle.

He admitted the articles found belonged to him, and admitted he immigrated here illegally.

He has since been booked into the Randall County Jail on a federal drug hold charge.
