Man Killed After Being Struck In Roadway

An Amarillo man has died after being hit by a truck.

Thursday at 4:01 AM,  Amarillo Police were sent to the 6000 block of the Dumas Drive on an accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

24-year-old male Angel Vera of Amarillo had been driving a 2015 Mazda MZ6 when he had possible mechanical problems and was stopped in the east lane of northbound Dumas Drive standing outside of his vehicle. 

 A 2009 Ford F350 pickup, driven by a 30-year-old male, was traveling northbound on Dumas Drive hit Vera and the Mazda MZ6 while he was standing beside his vehicle in the roadway.

Vera was taken to a local area hospital where he later died due to his injuries. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Unit of the Amarillo Police Department.
