Bell Textron has won an Army contract to develop the next generation of verticle lift aircraft, thats capable of flying like a plane.

The V-280 Valor will replace the Black Hawk transport and Apache Attack helicopters.

The contract includes refining the weapon system design, digital enterprise, sustainment, manufacturing, systems integration, flight testing and air worthiness qualifications.

Although test flights have taken place in Amarillo, it’ s not sure that any V-280 manufacturing would happen here.

The manufacturing contract could be worth billions of dollars.contract
