Man Sentenced For Murder Of Rumors Bar Owner

Treycoby Campbell has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the shooting death of Cindy Jayroe, owner and manager of Rumors Bar.

Campbell was at the bar March 7 of 2021 where he was capture on surveillance video with a gun. Following a fight inside the bar, he walked outside and to the corner of the parking lot and opened fire, targeting the bar.

Documents show Campbell fired 33 rounds. At the time he fired the gun, a number of people – including Jayroe – had come outside of the bar. She was struck and taken to a local hospital where she later died.

Campbell admitted firing the gun during his trial, but claimed there was someone else shooting back at him. Witnesses refuted that claim.
