Matador Tornado Claims Four Lives

Four people are dead and several injured in the aftermath of a tornado that struck the small town of Matador, Texas Wednesday evening.

Matador is located about 50 miles east of Plainview in Motley County.

According to Lubbock Fire and Rescue public information officer Derek Delgado, seven people were transported to the hospital by Emergency Medical Services, three others were taken by personal vehicles.

Just as with last week’s F3 tornado in Perryton, state and other resources have already mobilized to begin post-disaster, damage assessment and recovery efforts.

Delgado added that a Cooling Center has been set up at the Motley County Senior Citizens Building to help provide relief from the sweltering temperatures.
