Mayor Shares Insight On State of the City Address
During Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Cole Stanley roughly laid out the plans for this year’s State of the City Address. Mayor Stanley says the date is set for the 25th, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Pavilion located at 401 South Grand, just east of the Civic Center.
Mayor Stanley said an old school chum – Aaron Watson – has agreed to play at the event. He went on to say the spirit of this State of the City Address is to celebrate the real heroes, those employees that do the heavy lifting throughout the year, while sharing with the citizens what the council and others are doing with their money.
Stanley said of the boots and jeans themed event, “Let’s do Amarillo. Let’s do county fair, blue ribbon, boots and jeans. Let’s get together as kind of a family, cookout style.”
The event is to culminate with the singing of Amarillo by Morning, with Aaron Watson taking the lead.
