Temporary stormwater pumps at two Playa lakes have been turned off and are in the process of being removed.
City officials are saying 200 million gallons of water have been pumped out of Playa 7, and at Lawrence Lake, 350 million gallons were removed by the above-ground pump alone.
TxDOT is removing the pump at Lawrence Lake and the pump at the Greenways. Basically, city officials say the pumps at both Playa lakes have all the water that they can.
The Amarillo City Council has approved plans to purchase property for a possible pump station on Linda Drive, and the current Capital Improvement Plan includes a pump station for Playa 7.
The Amarillo Public Works Department expects the removal of these pumps will go on for the next few days.
