Among the items on Monday’s Potter County Commissioner’s meeting was the selection of a committee to consider just what to do about the jail? That is, build a new jail, or figure out how to expand the current one?

As it is, Potter County pays to house some inmates at facilities elsewhere.

Each commissioner nominated a citizen to serve on the committee that will also include Commissioner Warren Coble and Judge Nancy Tanner. Those citizens nominated were Wendi Swope (Kelly), Vinh Thanh Le (Schaffer), Craig Gualtiere (Coffee), and Gary Maxwell (Coble).

Judge Nancy Tanner nominated Francis Frost.

The committee will also include six or seven county personnel. Tanner commented on the size of the committee, saying “seems like an awful lot of people.” Commissioner John Coffee added later he knows it’s a lot of people, but wants to make sure they get it right.
