Protect Children Project

The Satanic Temples Protect The Children Project held a peaceful demonstration outside of Dumas High School, Friday

Organizers of the demonstration say the purpose of it was to provide “Students Rights Cards” showing that members of the TST are exempt from certain punishments in schools because of their religious beliefs.

The card asserts that members of their religion are exempt from corporal punishment, solitary confinement, restraint and or denial of using the restroom.

TST claims using these methods of punishment violates the students religious and civil rights.

The Dumas ISD Board of Trustees has adopted a policy where corporal punishment is permitted as a method of student discipline, and it is an opt-out policy
