“Quinceañera Traditions” Along With WT’s Distinguished Lecture Series

“Quinceañera Traditions” is an exhibit coming to the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, and West Texas A&M University is launching its Distinguished Lecture Series right alongside.

Dr. Rachel González-Martin will be coming to the PPHM Hazelwood Lecture Hall on the 15th.

There will be a reception at 6 pm, with the lecture following at 6:45.

González-Martin is an associate professor of Mexican-American and Latino Studies at the University of Texas in Austin.

Her presentation will discuss the celebration of a 15-year-old journey from girl to woman, and the memories associated with the dresses, crowns and so much more.

She will also be hosting a workshop on the 16th at 10 am for helping first-generation students navigate through college life, picking a major, and getting into research.
