An already crowded race for the position of mayor of Amarillo now has another individual in the mix.
Sam Burnett is the president of the Amarillo Area Transgender Advocacy Group and filed his ballot application on February 7th.
Burnett is a transgender man who has lived in the area for over 18 years and believes that more needs to be done to help our poverty-stricken communities.
He joins a field that includes Councilwoman Freda Powell, Tonya Winston, and Jeff McGunegle.
The last day to file is February 17th and the election is set for May 6th.
