People in the Panhandle suffering from sleep apnea now have a new alternative. It’s called the Inspire Procedure.

Doctors at the Quail Creek Surgical Hospital say it may not be for everyone, but enough people have trouble tolerating a CPAP machine and this may be a viable alternative for them.

The patient not tolerating a CPAP uses a handheld remote, to turn on the Inspire device at bedtime to set off a surgically implanted device that replaces the breathing mask.

Quail Creek Doctors say the Inspire Procedure gives an alternative for those using a CPAP.

The Inspire Procedure is a same-day surgery with over-the-counter medication for pain.
