Social Media Policing and Censoring

Social Media policing and censoring posts is growing to be a problem even here in Amarillo.

Doctor Nick Gerlich of West Texas A and M University says freedom of speech rights go away when we accept the terms and rights of the private company.

There are certain things that social media platforms do not allow such as criminal behavior or objectionable content and behavior.

Community standards set by social media platforms are monitored and ever changing, but just because social media doesn’t see a post as threatening, doesn’t mean the public shouldn’t do something.

Amarillo Police Department Sergeant Carla Burr encourages anyone who has felt threatened, unsafe or harassed by something or someone on the internet to at least call the police department..
