Southwest Airlines Grounded After Engine Fire

Southwest Airlines had to ground a flight just before take-off in Lubbock, on Thursday

The flight crew reported an engine fire., just after the plane taxied from the gate.

Lubbock Fire and Rescue say Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) units responded to reports of an engine failure fire on a Boeing 737.

The plane landed safely and officials say there was a fire in one engine and that they were working on putting it out.

The flight was bound for Las Vegas.

No passengers were injured and Southwest says the plane rolled back to the terminal under its own power.

Southwest added they were working to accommodate customers and find them another flight.

Boeing is still under scrutiny following an Alaska Airline panel blew out in January.

Boeing shares have dropped 28% this year from fallout over the Alaska accident and production problems.
