SpaceX Turning Offshore Oil Rigs Into Launching Pads

As if the SpaceX project couldn’t get any cooler, they will now be turning offshore oil rigs into launching pads.

The company, owned by Elon Musk, has purchased two Valaris deepwater oil rigs, with plans to turn them into ‘floating launchpads’ for its Starship rockets. The Starship is a massive spacecraft that Musk says will be able to transport 100 people into space for casual trips to the moon…and eventually Mars!

The most recent Starship flight test reached a height of 40,000 feet but exploded on impact when it returned to Earth.
