State Farm Insurance Company has donated a grant of $8,600 to the Panhandle Auto Burglary and Theft Unit that will help raise awareness about auto theft in the Amarillo area.
The grant was presented to the unit on Tuesday morning at the Amarillo Police Department.
The funds will be used to pay for billboards that will be displayed in the city through the 2020 year.
As of now, Potter County is ranked 36th in the nation for auto thefts. 900 vehicles are stolen in the panhandle every year.
