Student Injured By School Bus, Driver Cited

Driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
An Amarillo Independent School District bus hit a student who was walking to school Monday morning.
At 7:15 a.m., Amarillo Police were called to a crash involving a school bus and a pedestrian at Plains Blvd and Kansas Street.
The bus was traveling west on Plains and the driver didn’t see the 13-year-old student who was crossing the street in the crosswalk.
The female student was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the school bus driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
