The City of Amarillo says it will remove the temporary pumps from Lawrence Lake and Playa 7, also referred to as Greenways Lake, beginning Monday, August 7.
The pumps were put in place to help expedite the removal of flood waters that consumed many parts of Amarillo and the surrounding area in early June.
The surface level of both locations has dropped low enough that the temporary pumps can no longer effectively pump that water.
Lawrence Lake will continue to be serviced by the permanent east pump and a temporary submersible located at the west pump station.
Greenways is reported to be at its lowest level since 2021.
