The Texas Sales Tax-Free weekend starts this Friday, August 11th, and goes through to midnight 13th.

 

The Comptroller encourages all taxpayers to support Texas businesses while saving money on tax-free purchases of most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks (sold for less than $100) during the annual Tax-Free weekend. 

 

Qualifying items are clothing, footwear, and other items, school supplies, face masks, backpacks, and also special purchases such as school supplies using a business account-an exemption certificate will be required, layaways, special orders, and rain checks.

 

Delivery, shipping, handling, and transportation charges by the seller are part of the item’s sales price.

 

If you pay a sales tax on qualifying items during the sales tax holiday, you can ask the seller for a refund of the tax paid, and he can either grant thce.
