West Texas A and M University will make it so that starting in the fall of 2024, students will not have to buy a textbook for any course.

WT says it’ll eliminate textbook-related costs for its students saying that the national average for textbooks is $1,200 per student annually.

School President Walter Wendler says WT students may save up to $4,800 over the course of four years, and if a student needs a textbook for a course.

If a textbook is required, the College’s dean will use university resources to buy it for the student.

Professional manuals such as those used in nursing, engineering, or writing, will be considered reference books, not textbooks, and may still be required.
