Dr. Susan O’Shaughnessy is a Research Agricultural Engineer with USDA’s Agricultural Research Service in Bushland, Texas. She has spent much of her career working with sensor network systems to help conserve water, irrigation scheduling and much more.

Her work has also propelled her into The Internet of Things – a system where different devices (things), each with a unique identifier, are connected to the internet. Information is collected from these devices and stored/managed on servers – like The Cloud.

Dr. O’Shaughnessy discusses the advantages, and disadvantages, of using the IOT in agriculture as well as the current research being done in Bushland on this topic.
