Threat of Weekend Wal-Mart Shooting Hoax

The Amarillo Police Department is aware of several messages that appeared on social media.

The messages state that a law enforcement officer has shared information about a person or multiple people making threats of mass shootings at a Wal-Mart this weekend.

According to investigators the origin of the messages was found to be false and made toward several locations.

This apparent hoax was aimed to expand public fear in the wake of the recent tragedies.
