On Monday, Jan. 22, around 2 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2015 Nissan Altima traveling east on I-40 near Conway for a traffic violation.
The trooper discovered a false compartment in the dashboard area containing ten plastic-wrapped bundles of methamphetamine and one plastic-wrapped bundle of fentanyl.
A press release states that DPS Special Agents and Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agents were contacted and assisted with the investigation.
Twenty-one-year-old Jovanny Melgoza-Hernandez, of Peoria, Illinois was arrested and booked into the Carson County Jail for felony possession of a controlled substance.
Officials say the drugs were reportedly being transported from Los Angeles, California to Peoria, Illinois.
