Also, left tackle Tyron Smith will not play this Sunday against the Packers after suffering a right high ankle sprain in the Sunday night loss at New Orleans. He is listed as week-to-week.

That’s the fewest points the Texans have produced in a regular season game with Deshaun Watson starting at quarterback. Watson was sacked six times, bringing his season total to 18 and is on pace for 72 sacks this season. Houston is 2-and-2, while Atlanta is 1-and-3.

Steelers Blast Bengals On MNF

(Pittsburgh, PA) — Mason Rudolph threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns as the Steelers cruised past the Bengals 27-3 on Monday Night Football in Pittsburgh. James Conner and Diontae Johnson had TD catches and Jaylen Samuels ran for a score as Pittsburgh got its first win to improve to 1-and-3. At 0-and-4, the Bengals are one of six teams still without a win.

MLB Postseason Opens Today

(Washington, DC) — The MLB postseason gets going tonight with the National League wild card game. The Nationals host the Brewers in D.C. Max Scherzer starts for Washington and Brandon Woodruff for Milwaukee. The winner plays the Dodgers in the NL Division Series. The AL wild card game is tomorrow night with the A’s hosting the Rays.

Astros Have Trio Of Aces For Postseason

(Houston, TX) — The Rays and A’s will play tomorrow in the AL wild card game with the winner advancing to the division round to face the Astros with that series opening Friday in Houston. Awaiting for them will be a trio of aces in Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole and Zack Greinke, likely in that order. Astros manager A.J. Hinch said, “this is a rotation that’s second to none.” Houston will take a 107-and-55 record into the postseason.

Stars Win Shootout, Start NHL Season Thursday

(Dallas, TX) — The Stars will drop the puck on their NHL season Thursday hosting the Boston Bruins, who advanced to the Stanley Cup finals last season. Dallas finished last year with 93 points and was ousted in the playoffs by the St. Louis Blues, the eventual champions, in a seven-game series and losing 2-1 in two overtimes in the finale.

Rockets Rout Sharks

(Houston, TX) — James Harden had a triple-double by halftime as the Rockets routed the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association 140-70 at Toyota Center in their exhibition opener. Harden finished with 10 points, 17 assists and 12 boards. Russell Westbrook did not play as the Rockets will restrict his workload early after having a knee procedure in May. The Rockets will play the Clippers Thursday in Honolulu.

Mavs Open Camp Today Sans Dirk

(Dallas, TX) — The Mavericks will open training camp today at the Lympo Practice Facility, but for the first time in 22 years without Dirk Nowitzki, the future Hall of Famer who played his entire 21 years with Dallas. The training camp will conclude on Sunday with an open practice free to the public at American Airlines Center. Dallas will tip off its preseason schedule on October 8th against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Tulsa.

(Frisco, TX) — FC Dallas will host Sporting KC in the regular season finale Sunday. Dallas is seventh in the West with 45 points. The top seven teams qualify for the playoffs. San Jose is a point behind Dallas with 44, while the Colorado Rapids have 42. Dallas is a point behind Portland.

Governor Newsom Signs Pay To Play Act

(Sacramento, CA) — California Governor Gavin Newsom is signing a law that will let college athletes get paid for product endorsements. The Fair Pay to Play Act was signed Monday and will be enacted in 2023. It makes it illegal for schools to prevent athletes from earning money from their image, name or likeness. College athletes can also hire a licensed agent.

Number-21 Texas A&M has the week off before welcoming top-ranked Alabama on October 12th to College Station. The West Texas A&M Buffs take on Central Washington in Canyon for homecoming.
