Two Area Wildfires 100% Contained

Crews were called out on two area wildfires this weekend.

Friday in Hall County a blaze broke out near mile marker 160 on Highway 70, north of Turkey and south of Red River.

Highway 70 was shut down from Highway 86 to Highway 256 for safety precautions due to the fire burning close to the roadway.

The Texas A&M Forest Service says that the fire is 100% contained and 150 acres were burned. 

Saturday afternoon at 3:30 The Randall County Fire Department was called to a fire one half-mile past the Claude Highway and Washington Street. 

Units from the Amarillo Fire Department and The Texas A&M Forest Service were deployed in support of the blaze that endangered some storage buildings and other nearby structures.

Traffic was re-directed and closed off around the area due to heavy smoke, no injuries were  reported and the fire is 100% contained.
