TxDOT Evaluating Traffic Pattern Near West Plains High School

TxDOT is evaluating a new traffic pattern at Arden Road and SL 335 (Loop 335). That evaluation started Wednesday and is expected to last several weeks.

Those heading to West Plains High School will be redirected to northbound 335 and will need to take the turnaround at Hillside Road.

Traffic coming from the school will be diverted to southbound 335.

According to a TxDOT Facebook post, it’s been monitoring that area for several months, modeling different options to increase safety while also maintaining mobility at that intersection.

Message boards and traffic signs will be out on the roadways to help guide motorists. 

TxDOT will evaluate the changes after a couple of weeks and coordinate with the city of Amarillo and Canyon ISD to determine the next steps.
