“Victory Lap”

Sampling has always been a part of the hip-hop culture and is an art form WE truly appreciate.

With the recent passing of Nipsey Hussle, we felt it was important to revisit his genius that he brought to his sound and authenticity. Never shy of experiment and being a lover of music its important to see what he did on his debut album and the title track. His track Victory Lap sampled a very 2000’s alternative band and used it to give the track a unique sound and he started the album.

The track he sampled was from 2013 from the band the Arctic Monkeys. The song “Knee Socks” has a short interlude where it becomes hollow.

It’s amazing to see the genius that Nipsey Hussle was. He was constantly finding unique sounds for his album outside of his genre. He will forever be missed as a community activist, an entrepreneur, and as for forward-thinking musical genius.
