Watson Unable To Make Sunday’s SOTC Event

The State of the City address will be Saturday at the Pavilion at the Santa Fe Depot.

Mayor Cole Stanley offered a preview of the event at the last City Council meeting, stating he wanted it to be a boots-and-jeans event everyone would enjoy. He also teased local country music product, Aaron Watson has agreed to play; even lead a round of ‘Amarillo by Morning.’

It was learned Thursday that Watson would not be able to attend, having undergone surgery that morning.

Mayor Stanley also wants this State of the City address to be community focused, and free to the public. He made clear it is being funded entirely by sponsors, noting no tax money is being spent.

The State of the City event is Sunday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Pavilion at the Santa Fe Depot is located at 401 South Grant Street, one block east of the Civic Center.
