Weekly Jobless Claims: 847K; California, New York, and Texas Lead The Decline

Initial jobless claims are falling. The Labor Department says 847-thousand claims were filed last week. That’s 67-thousand fewer claims than the revised total from the previous week.
Meantime, the biggest increases in initial claims came in Florida, Maryland, and Kansas for the week ending January 16th. California, New York, and Texas led the declines during that same week.
