Wellington Man Sentenced To 40 Years In Prison

A Wellington man will serve 40 years in prison for a first-degree felony offense of burglary of aggravated assault of a child.

Twenty-year-old Damien Ray Pina committed the offense in November of 2021, and was arrested by the Collingsworth County Sheriff’s Office.

The Judicial District Attorney says after Pina was indicted in February, he pleaded guilty on April 7thand was placed on community supervision with additional conditions related to sex offenders

The state filed a motion asking the court to referreePinas probation onin June , due to six violations of probation.

The state says Pina failed to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

Pina is also ordered to pay a remaining 10-thousand-dollar fine, $376 in court costs and $400 in court costs.
