WT Ag Gaining Momentum in 2020

West Texas A&M University is the home of the Buffalos, and home to one of the most advanced Division II Ag Programs in the Country.

Agricultural Sciences Department Head Dr. Lance Kieth says 2019 ended strong for the ag department. “We had a great fall. Our numbers were at a peak number. We were at 940 students so this coming year of 2020 we’re looking to surpass 1,000 students in the department alone.”

The Fall also brought some awards to the Ag Sciences Department. “We had a very good season in horse judging. Dr. Pipkin and his team were once again National Champions. They won The Congress Show up in Ohio.” Dr. Kieth also bragged on the Stock Horse Team saying, “It’s advised by Dr. Nate Wolf who’s a relatively new hire to us…he and the Stock Horse Team also won us a National Championship in the Texas Stock Horse Championship.”

As 2020 kicks off Dr. Kieth told Ag Director Shannon Gray that momentum is going to strengthen the Ag Department and all of the projects coming down the line – including the new VERO program (Veterinary Education, Research and Outreach).
